Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water

Zen Proverbs

This is fitting after a day with one Enlightened Girls Lacrosse Coach, Leslie Frank.

People know Leslie from many different but intersecting lines. You may have seen her Westwood team compete with the best in the state and command the respect earned through winning - a lot. You may know her from one of the highest regarded club Lacrosse teams in the country, MassElite. They also win a lot. Finally Leslie may be known as the mother of two of the best lacrosse players in the country, Merideth and Alex who both play at the Best Women's College Lacrosse team in the country for the last four years, Northwestern.  If you don't know about Leslie, you might understand now why I think enlightended is an appropriate term.

So.... I figured, Leslie has a good solid base of instruction that can help Ipswich Girls Lacrosse prepare as spring approaches. I was wrong. Leslie has a solid base for sure, but how she uses the base is mezmorizing.  From one drill to the next Leslie gently commanded 30 or so middle school and high school girls on a smallish indoor field to dive into to the sport...without hesitation and with a plan that may have been used before but was totally fresh in its delivery. The pace and cadence of the clinic was timed perfectly  with the Bose Sound Wave in the background cranking it out.

Note about the music...Leslie filled me in on a secret...the music helps calm the nerves. Which may be true, but it also made the team listen intently..THE REAL SECRET.

Back to Enlightenment....basically Leslie showed that chopping wood and carrying water is enlightenment. That good coaching is chopping wood and carrying water.

Ipswich Girls Lacrosse wants to sincerely Thank Coach Frank for supporting the Sport of Women's Lacrosse.Good luck to Westwood, Northwestern and MassElite this year!
